When you select a potion in your bag and select a quick slot at the bottom of the game screen, the potion will be registered in the quick slot.

Afterward, you can use the potion by dragging the quick slot down. 

Buff potions registered for auto-use will be used automatically after the use time has elapsed,

and healing potions will be used according to the use conditions set in the Settings > Controls tab.
